Billionaire progressive to run for Boxer’s seat?

Remember last spring when Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) couldn’t stop yammering about those evil Koch Brothers donating money to conservative candidates and causes. He ranted on the Senate floor about them and even went so far as to tweet this:

Harry Reid tweet on Koch Brothers

Then other progressive candidates and groups jumped into the fray including one of the senators from Ohio, Sherrod Brown (D); Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC), whose ranting about them daily may have cost her re-election; the DCCC, and the DNC to name just a few. The DSCC even went so far as to proclaim the GOP is “addicted to Koch.”And of course the MSM assisted.

Now Politico has listed the top donors and it doesn’t surprise Conservatives in the least that the Koch Brothers were pretty far down the list compared to progressive and Democrat donors. Highest being former hedge-fund manager and billionaire/progressive Tom Steyer, who gave $74 million, including $5 million to support Señor Reid through Senate Majority PAC.  We are also hearing rumors Steyer may run for the senate seat Barbara Boxer (D-CA) will be vacating. The LA Times reports:

Boxer’s announcement Thursday that she would leave her post in 2016 set off a frenzy of speculation about who would run for the first open U.S. Senate seat in California in more than 20 years. If Steyer opts in, with the ability to fund a race expected to cost tens of millions of dollars, he could upend a field that would otherwise be crowded with other ambitious Democrats.

“Steyer has the greatest incentive to plant his flag early,” said Dan Schnur, head of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC. He “has the capacity to scare other people out of the race.”

Mr. Steyer apparently hasn’t realized big money doesn’t necessarily equal success. Especially in California. Just ask Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.

And Steyer is spending an awfully lot of time at the White House. Fourteen visits since 2009. Jazz Shaw of Hot Air says so much time “he might as well have his own room there.”

Steyer is also a firm believer that nasty, proven-a-lie global warming, is an absolute truth and humans are at fault. His NextGen Climate Action Committee supported candidates who were “global warming” believers but he didn’t choose very well since most of them lost. Four out of seven, including  Colorado Democrat Senator Mark Udall and Iowa Dem Bruce Braley.

So as usual Democrats and progressives hit hypocrite status again. Condemning Conservatives and Republicans for something they do bigger. FYI for those who don’t know what Steyer looks like, he’s the one wearing all the gold. À la Xerxes.
